Real People, Real Hope

Hope2: Exponential Impact Overview

In the book of Acts, we read about a church that was so dedicated to following Jesus that they stopped at nothing to fulfill God’s mission of reaching all people. It was the kind of place where people far from God experienced genuine love, unconditional acceptance and real community. The new believers reflected Jesus so much that other people were naturally drawn to them, with many choosing to become followers of Jesus everyday!

What would happen if a church today in Chandler, Indiana were so committed to following Jesus that they would stop at nothing to fulfill God’s mission?

If it happened 2,000 years ago in the book of Acts, could it happen today in Southern Indiana?

Almost three years ago, those kinds of questions and that kind of passion prompted 14 leaders from Chandler Cumberland Presbyterian Church to step out in radical faith, leave behind the comfort and security of “church” as they had known it, and take bold risks to see the dream of reaching all people become a reality. From the beginning, New Hope has remained committed to a single vision:

Helping ordinary people—especially those who have no church background or who have given up on traditional church—become extraordinary followers of Jesus.

Focused on this mission, we have watched God do what we couldn’t have imagined just two years ago. Hundreds of people have been touched by New Hope and dozens have become a part of our new community. In the process, people who were once unconvinced have become fully-devoted followers of Jesus, and lives have been transformed, healed, and redeemed.

We realize that this is just the beginning and that what God has done over the past couple of years pales in comparison to what he longs to do in us and through us in the days and years ahead!

Now it’s time for Hope2: Exponential Impact. That’s the name we’ve chosen for this church-wide campaign that we believe God will use to take us to the next level of commitment and effectiveness as Christ’s followers. We believe God wants to have an exponential impact through us in the world today just like he did through the first church in the book of Acts. When Peter preached the church’s first sermon, 3,000 people came to faith in Jesus and were baptized in one day! In the blink of an eye 150 believers became 3,150. That’s exponential impact!

If God did it then through them, we believe God can do it now through us!
